Lavender Herb


Lavender can be used medicinally as an effective remedy to combat the following conditions: Restlessness, insomnia, abdominal complaints, rheumatism, and loss of appetite.

Lavender fragrance is used as a soothing stress reliever, and also helps cases of insomnia or other sleep disorders. Five drops of lavender oil used in bath water before sleep helps soothe nerves and relieve insomnia and stress – this is one of the uses for lavender essential oil.

Lavender oil topically applied on the temples helps cure headaches, migraine etc, as the oil is absorbed by the skin and the constituents of the oil calm the nerves, relieving pain and excitability.

A mask of lavender buds placed over the eyes when going to sleep is a great relaxant and effective remedy for stress.

The lavender herb is a time-tested analgesic and has been used since ancient times for bug bites, burns, skin disorders, to relieve itching, rashes, and reduce swelling.

Lavender water, which is made by adding lavender oil to alcohol and other additives, has been used down the ages as a tonic for weakness and fatigue, fainting and giddiness. In these cases, lavender works powerfully as a potent restorative.

Another lavender fact is that it is also an effective cleanser when added to bath water and for washing hair. It is claimed that lavender, due to its antibacterial and antifungal qualities, kills head lice and other scalp infections. Hence, lavender is seen to be effective in combating balding and promoting hair growth. Also, the lavender herb has been effectively used as an antiseptic for the treatment of acne.

Another use for lavender is as a floor cleaner, and also for cleaning counter surfaces and bathrooms. Again, it works effectively due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties and it also gives out a pleasant fragrance to cleaned surfaces.
